Description
For this project, I created a series of posters showcasing the collaboration between New Balance and Tokyo Design Studio. The designs are centered around three iconic Japanese flowers cherry blossom (sakura), morning glory (asagao), and chrysanthemum (kiku) each carefully drawn using delicate lines to give an elegant and natural feel. I chose a soft beige background to keep the focus on the flowers and create a calm, refined look.
Each poster features one of the collaboration’s shoes, thoughtfully placed to connect with the flowers one shoe even rests on a flower, which I think really emphasizes the balance between natural beauty and modern craftsmanship. To tie it all together, I added elegant Japanese text that enhances the cultural authenticity and sophistication of the design.
Description
Cherry Blossom (Sakura):
Cherry blossoms are all about appreciating the fleeting beauty of life, which felt perfect for this project. They represent renewal and hope, much like the collaboration between Tokyo Design Studio and New Balance bringing something fresh and meaningful while honouring tradition.

Description
Morning Glory (Asagao):
Morning glories bloom and fade quickly, symbolizing the beauty of the present moment. I wanted this to reflect the idea of embracing the now, which feels very aligned with Tokyo Design Studio’s thoughtful and precise design approach. Plus, their soft, delicate look brings a sense of resilience that connects beautifully with the craftsmanship in the shoes.

Description
Chrysanthemum (Kiku):
Chrysanthemums symbolize longevity, perfection, and elegance, and they’re also associated with the Japanese imperial family. Including this flower felt like a great way to celebrate Japan’s heritage and highlight the timeless quality and precision that both New Balance and Tokyo Design Studio bring to their designs.

Interactive (origami) leaflets
Following my poster designs, I created a set of interactive leaflets inspired by Japanese culture and design. These leaflets are made from origami paper, reflecting the Japanese love for origami and the art of transformation. Each leaflet is designed to be folded into one of three iconic Japanese flowers: cherry blossom (sakura), morning glory (asagao), or chrysanthemum (kiku). This concept brings a hands-on, interactive element to the project, encouraging engagement and offering a deeper connection to the themes of the collaboration between New Balance and Tokyo Design Studio.
The leaflets are 15x15 cm in size and incorporate Trace Fiber Technology text as a nod to the innovative material used in the featured shoes. On the reverse side, a QR code links to detailed folding instructions, helping users transform the leaflets into beautiful origami flowers. This thoughtful integration of content and design bridges tradition and modernity, aligning perfectly with Tokyo Design Studio’s ethos.
